Visa-free does not mean rule-free

Visa-free access removes one pre-travel permission step. Passport validity, stay limits, purpose-of-travel rules and border checks can still apply.

Visa-free describes the visa step

A visa-free label usually means the traveller does not need to obtain a traditional visa before the trip for the covered purpose and stay. It does not mean there are no conditions attached to entry.

Some visa-exempt travellers still need an electronic travel authorisation before departure, and border authorities retain the final admission decision.

The passport itself still matters

Destinations can apply passport-validity rules independently of visa status. For example, official EU guidance for many non-EU visitors requires a passport issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least three months after the planned departure from the EU.

Use the access category as the first question

EntryAtlas uses access categories to help you find the next step. The correct workflow is category first, destination-specific conditions second, official source last.
